About Music for HOPE

Our Mission

Our guiding philosophy is to make the world a better place through music. We aim to do this by increasing access to music within communities and spread music to our youth, allowing them opportunities not otherwise afforded to them. HOPE is an acronym for Helping Other People Everywhere.

Who We Are

Music for HOPE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We currently operate chapters in Charlottesville, Virginia, Las Vegas, Nevada, and San Diego, California, but our reach extends nationally.

Our flagship program, Encore aims to collect new and used musical instruments, refurbish them as needed, and then distribute them to struggling school music programs or directly to youth who otherwise do not have access to instruments or music programs.

Currently, Music for HOPE is operated by an all-volunteer staff.

Chapters

We currently operate chapters located in Charlottesville, Virginia, Las Vegas, Nevada, and San Diego, California. We feel that each community has unique needs and the best way to meet these needs is to develop connections within a particular community. Although some of our programs can be carried out on a national level, others require intimate community involvement. Our chapters hope to build on this level.

History

Music for HOPE has existed in various forms since our founding in 1994. We have helped many deserving youth since. Most recently in 2010, we set out to recreate ourselves, giving new momentum and structure to our programs. We have returned as a much stronger organization. Our chapters in Central Virginia, Las Vegas, and Southern California are in the process of growing to meet the high demands for instruments. Our national office is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Additionally, throughout our history, Music for HOPE has assisted many other non-profit organizations by providing entertainers and presenting free concerts for fundraisers. Nationally, our programs have assisted school music programs across the United States.

Donate an Instrument - We are always in search of instruments to meet the high demands.

Help fund current and future programs - Monetary donations are also more than welcome, and can help provide for instrument parts, instrument care kits, and as a last resort, new instruments.
