Frequently Asked Questions
For Those Needing an Instrument
There is no Music for HOPE representative near me. Can I still apply for an instrument?
Yes! Everyone is welcome to apply. Although first priority goes to those near our chapters, if we have instruments available and you meet our eligibility requirements, we will try to connect you with an instrument.
I need an instrument. What are the criteria for receiving one through Music for HOPE?.
Please see our eligibility criteria located on our Get An Instrument page.
My school needs help supplying instruments. How do I get help for my school?
Please contact us to discuss your school's individual needs.
What conditions instruments do you accept?
All! Instrument donations are evaluated upon receipt and a course of action is determined. For donations that are unrepairable, we either salvage them for parts, sell what we can for funds to put toward other repairs, or we use them in creative fundraisers—such as our "Instruments as Art" event.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! Music for HOPE is a 501(c)(3) registered not-for-profit organization. Your donations are deductible to the full extent of the law. As individual circumstances may differ, please consult with a tax professional to determine specifically your allowable deduction.
Where can I drop off an instrument?
I do not live near a Music for HOPE representative, but have an instrument to donate. How can I donate it?
We accept donated instruments by mail. Before shipping, please notify us so that we can expect your instrument. We can also offer suggestions for how to best pack and ship an instrument.
I am interested in volunteering in my city. How can I help?
